Details

Day 1
You will get pick up by 9.00 - 9.30 a.m. from the hotel or the guest house where you stay.
After get pick up we will drive up North about 1.30 hrs. On the way we will stop at the local market where you guide will be purchasing some of the food items which will be needed for the trek. The drive will continue a short way to the lunch point at "Tung La Korn" village. After lunch we will do about 3 hour walking through beautiful jungle up into the hills to enjoy the nature, views and see the bat cave.

You will visit Meo hilltribe village. You can walk around and get information about the cuture, life style and the history. And we walk to the private accommodation in a jungle. We will have dinner and overnight here.
At night we enjoy chatting and playing games with trekking fellowers.

Day 2
We have breakfast at the camp. Let’s start jungle trail walk about 2 hours with a relaxing break to enjoy the nature and visit to some hill tribe villages. On the way we will enjoy swimming at secluded waterfall (waterfalls and cave never visited by outsiders before 2009). We finished walking at Shan village. And we have lunch here. 

After that we will walk to the elephant camp. We spend about 1-1.30 hrs with the elephants. You will get to know them by offering some food. You can take photos with elephant then take elephants to the river and enjoy bath and brush your elephant.

# Remark: Our elephants have the good health, without chain and hook. They are freedom and happiness. We do not use elephants to work or perform. And we enforce a strict NO Riding policy.

After that get pick up and drive to the rafting camp to experience on bamboo rafting along the Mae Tang rive for about 1 hour. You will then be transferred back to your Chiang Mai hotel.

  • 1.5 hour drive stopping at market
  • arrive at "Tung La Korn" village and have Lunch
  • Trek for around 3 hours
  • Arrive Lahu village camp
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 2

  • Breakfast
  • Trek for around 3 hours
  • Lunch
  • 1 hour elephant interaction, feed and wash the elephants
  • 45 minutes bamboo rafting
  • 5:30pm Drop off at your Chiang Mai hotel

This trekking is for people who looking for a more authentic trek and adventure, is a great alternative trek to those who do not want to ride elephants but want to have elephant interaction. You will have a great opportunity to once-in-a-lifetime experience to spend the night in a real Lahu hill tribe village, to build comradery with your fellow hikers.

What to bring / What to wear

  • Walking shoes and sandals or flip flops (if possible not new ones)
  • Mosquito repellent, Sun hat, sun screen, Swim wear, Towel, A flashlight
  • Personal toiletries, including toilet paper
  • Personal first-aid kit (plasters, etc.)
  • Any prescription medication you require like an asthma inhaler or other meds.
  • Clothes (long & short sleeves, long pants), Raincoat
    From November to March it is a little cold in Chiang Mai in the mornings, so please bring something to keep yourself warm until the day heats up. From May to October it is the rainy season in Thailand so please bring a raincoat and/or a change of clothes.
  • Drinking water, a small amount of cash to buy water, snacks, and souvenirs during the trek.

Additional Information

  • The temperatures during the day are quite hot throughout the year and the sun is burning mercilessly down at you. You should bring a large drinking water bottle and you must protect your skin from sunburn.
  • During the day it is best to wear long trousers and a shirt with long sleeves. Also you should wear a hat. (Thais usually cover every part of their body with clothes if they have to remain in the sun for long.)
  • During rainy season, from August to November, a rain coat or poncho may be appropriate.
  • From the end of November to the beginning of February it can become quite cold at night. Sometimes near freezing temperatures in high places. You should prepare some warm clothes if you go trekking during that time.
